SEE e Ess - Day two

So I’m here at CES in Las Vegas and man am I having a pretty good time (to say the least). For some odd reason I feel compelled to tell you … internet people… about my time here, but I don’t like the idea of rambling pointlessly about how cool my life is when the chances are you’re sitting at your computer either doing work… or needing to be doing work, reading about my traipsing all over las vegas.

So I’ll make it quick.

After awakening at 11am (oops) and eating the worlds largest pancake from this place called the Hash House, we get our group and migrate over to a place to pick up press badges for those who don’t yet have them. Oops… they moved the place where the CES registration was? What’s this.. the AVN (adult video n-something) awards/showcase is in the same place where the CES registration used to be? Oh… sawwy… *backs away slowly* ala Peter Griffin in that one Family Guy episode. Now on to the show!

CES the actual trade show is the coolest thing I have ever been to. Seriously. Giant booths from Sony, Microsoft, Toshiba, Canon, SAMESUNG (haha, 30 rock reference there), Panasonic and many more, showed off some seriously cool stuff. LED TVs, tiny gadgets, 3D TVs, tinier gadgets, and giant TVs donned the walls of most of the booths and it was sensory overload fo sho. But it was really cool. Really.

We dashed out of the show to make it to the MAG party and I’m on the phone makin things happen when boom… i get a tap on my shoulder from Blake W. one of the higher ups from Vimeo. He recognized me. Cool. We’d exchanged info before, so he was all like “hey i’m in the middle of somethin hit me up and we’ll hang” and I’m all like “yeah we’ll get up after the thing, you know, ok holla.”

Fast forward to us making rounds to some parties in some of the swankiest hotels I’ve ever seen. Off in a limo we go, to the espn zone party where we watched Alabama whoop Texas sitting next to Michael Scott’s boss. Cool. Free food. Free swag. Free bbq ribs. check. And then we find out.. hey we need to get to this Monster Cable party.. P. DIDDY is gonna be there and we (“we” meaning the important 3 people, excluding myself, in our group that actually have a web presence. SO pretty much just ObamaGirl and her producers + Justin) might get to meet him. Yeah so Apparently P. Diddy, Dr. Dre, and Lady Gaga were in the building and though we made it up to the Monster lounge… I didn’t get to go into the actual press conference where the stars were. Bummer. But hey.. thats not so bad right.. I mean, it was after 10pm (the time where the Vimeo guys said they’d be free).. and we were in the Paris hotel (the place where the Vimeo guys said they were staying) so we worked it out and I got to hang for a bit with Blake and Steve from vimeo.com, some really cool dudes. Off to the roulette tables we (they, technically, since I was just watching it all) go, then I get a call… I won’t blast AT&T but we can all guess how well that call went, service and signal wise.

Flash forward a few hours and we’re off with Amber and Michael hailing cabs and doin the do… while simultaneously getting way tired (Editors Note: In case you’ve been reading this and wondering who “we” is, Chris and myself, Butner Brimberry. Chris, you need to establish your subjects before using your pronouns. HAHA!). But its Vegas and its only 2 am. The night was just beginning. Back to the hotel for Postgaming?! (the logical opposite of pre-gaming) and then we get a call from Justin. Hey’ I’m hanging out with some friends from Facebook. No, not some friends they met on facebook… the guys responsible for making facebook actually work. Higher ups, if you will. Ok.. its 3am I’ll leave my hotel and go. Good thing I did… those cats were cool cats forreals . Cahill and I talked for a good hour or two about … life.. and tech.. and facebook design changes… then at 5am I decide if I want to actually make it as an alive human being the next day I might perhaps go to bed.

So I did.
